The Need

With technological advancement, our lives have become more challenging and time is more important to us than ever before. We don’t want to waste time searching for misplaced or lost items, but unfortunately, according to the "Esure" survey in the UK, people are losing not only their items but their precious time as well: we spend an average of 10-15 minutes a day searching for our belongings, whether at home, in the office or our cars.

For professionals, keeping track of work equipment is even more essential. Losing an important piece of gear can prove to be devastating for its owner, costing money, time and missed jobs. Item loss especially creates anxiety for on-the-go professionals, rental houses and every small business that performs inventory management multiple times a day.

For Third Party Delivery companies the problem of losing packages is even more severe since it results not only in multi-million $ damage, but also causes their clients such as FedEx and Amazon to close their routes upon reaching 0.1% threshold of lost or undelivered packages.

The Solution

GearEye developes a small device that scans the surrounding area and helps locate and monitor equipment.

GearEye has adopted the RFID technology, which has been used most often by big enterprises for supply-chain needs. GearEye has revolutionized the way RFID is used by wirelessly connecting it to any mobile device, and making it super-affordable. Now anyone can stop the nightmare of losing precious items with just a swift wave of a hand and press of a button.

Users just tag their items with tiny RFID stickers and use GearEye's scanner device, together with a companion app to check if they’ve got everything they need with them. The device scans the surrounding area, and the app notifies you about the tagged items it discovers while pointing to the missing ones and helping to locate them.

How it works

  • Users just place tiny GearEye RFID tags on any of their items, like cameras, lenses, flashes, credit cards or wallets, and start tracking.
  • The device serves as a focal point for all of the tagged items, it can be held in hand or hidden in a bag. It communicates with a phone via Bluetooth.
  • The GearEye app enables customers to organize their essential equipment into specific lists, tracking either the entire group of items or an individual piece of gear, ensuring the equipment is safe.
  • The app alerts if something is missing and helps locate the items.
  • Users can scan a bag or find missing items 2-3 meters away, like in the "Hot and Cold" game.
  • The scanner behaves like a "metal detector" and the app increases or decreases the volume of the sound depending on the distance to the item being searched.
